This charity fun-run is in support of some local charities; Seattle Children’s Autism Center, Camp Fire USA Puget Sound Council, Rise n’ Shine, and the Healing Center. This run is about 4 miles and attracts thousands of participants every year. With contests for “Best Wearin’ of the Green” and “Most Outrageous Costume” this is one of several St. Patrick’s Day Events – Seattle and is more about having a great time and supporting charity than winning a race. Hosted by the Irish Heritage Club of Seattle, this parade begins at 4th and Jefferson and ends at the Seattle Center. Monorail admission is free from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. from Westlake Park to the Seattle Center for families to enjoy the closing ceremonies of the parade and to participate in the Seattle Irish Festival. Small groups and individuals are welcome to walk in the parade without pre-registering. Before the parade starts, Irish descendants (and everyone is Irish on St. Patty’s Day) may find the county or province they believe their ancestors came from and march behind their Provincial Banner.
